A fun boat ride with family and friends.

Trip to Dibru-Saikhowa National Park

On the streams of the Mighty Brahmaputra River

Mighty is truly what you will decipher when you get a chance to meet this heavenly river.

The river is as calm as a gentle loving mother and as furious as a lion could be. It is also said to be the only river to be referred in the masculine.

when ever i travel back home i never forget to take a glance(which is actually a long lost stare) on the river and it looks so beautiful from high above with no skyscrapers, no hustle and bustle of buildings just green complimenting the river.

And, yes it has the World's largest river Island MAJULI.

We were around 25 to 30 people for the morning session tour, so we were arranged with a medium sized boat that could carry approx 50 people or so.
The boat was actually well maintained and the boat ride tour provider(Om House Boat) had descent amount of service people and were very polite and friendly.

This river(mostly the exact spot) is located in one of the farthest corner in the country(north-east India) so people travelling from all over the country to visit this particular spot are less in number as to what i have seen and heard.Nonetheless people from northeast do travel and visit these spots to witness the migratory birds in the winters and to check out the national Park on an island or to have a picnic spot near the river and the list goes on.

But why i explained the location is because i was shocked to see that the OM Boat House people have maintained their boat and the rooms so well and the food provided was satisfactory(quantity and taste wise). It may not be the most luxurious but it is satisfactory in all terms that is what i can say.

Om House Boat

We were first provided with rooms in the morning as we arrived on the location to freshen up so that we could stretch out a bit and have breakfast before we leave for the ride.

Then we were settled in the boat which would take us for a round, it was clean and organised and everything was arranged for the tourists.Few staff people also joined us on the trip as they were going to cook us snacks for the whole ride. There were two forest guards with us for the trip too.

It was a very simple and refreshing bond between everyone. We first visited the island(Dibru Saikhowa National Park) and we were on a small trek basically just trying to witness the wild and the birds. I did see few but due to so many people walking the migratory birds flew away.We then stopped to have a look at this huge spread out trees (shown below).

Kekjori Trees
I am not sure to how much area these trees covered but i can probably guess it was quite a huge area.

Then we came back to where the boat was and to our arrival some fresh snacks(prepared on the boat) and beverages were waiting.

Then we headed towards the Dolphin Point.

To be precise i saw the dolphins taking "their way of dip in the water" 3 times and it was an amazing experience. It is really a different experience to witness them in their wild. Obviously i couldn't take a shot of them, people did try to but missed.

But we did take pictures of few migratory birds.

It is surely a paradise for photographers, you can see so many different birds migrating and landing here on its way.
But i guess we were a little early to the time when you can see these birds.

You can see all the daily chores done by the locals on the river, when you are passing by them, few wave at you as they return home from their daily routine. It's a weird yet pleasant experience when you are passing by on different boats, looking and imagining stories about each other.

Here we stopped on an island(basically it is a delta) just to freshen up and play some games.Which you can see people are enjoying.

In every picture you can see a land form or edge to the river but i can guarantee you that is not the other side of the river, those are just some formations or deltas.
The river when enters state Assam it becomes very wide as to 20 kms(12 miles). You cannot see the other side.

Then, after the beautiful sunset with the dolphins popping out we returned to the bigger sized boat where all the arrangements for dinner was kept. The food provided was really good, taste and quality wise.Everybody had their hot meal and said their part of appreciation to the tour guide who was very patient and understanding towards tourists and also thanked the people who served.

This was a very peaceful and calm experience.
