How a road trip to Mysore happened ?

"I don't know where i'm going but i'm on my way"- Carl Sagan

Ohh ! for the reasons we do things.

My reason is as ridiculous as it can be, to hop on a bike and go for a trip in the middle of the night.
Which was, there was a city wide power cut.

Well it was that week, where we all people staying in Bangalore were facing this problem and we all were tired of all the time being conscious about our batteries dying, finishing work on time and the excruciating heat to top it off. We somehow had made it to the weekend. And on friday night we(my friends, that includes three of the young gentlemen and me) and one of them is my neighbor in the same building, we got together cooked good comfort food and watched movie and later that night we all went to our rooms thinking we will get our peaceful sleep one night without the power cut.

But no, God had different and fantastic plans for us. I had just stepped in the house and plugged in my phone and what else the light goes out. And there i was stuck in my tiny room with nothing to do apart from thinking how gracious that heat was(it was 12:00 am). I came out of the room to burn a candle and i find out my roommate is still not in. I get a call meanwhile from one of the guys saying they want to just go on a bike ride and at that point it was a good idea no lights, no sleep better utilize in some adventure. So i get dressed, shoes, camera all set to go.

And i went downstairs, me and my friend rode off to our friend's house, this was happening about two in the morning. We reached the place soon and i ask, "so till now you guys might have decided, where are we going?". And i get those faces which were telling me,"Were we supposed to decide or wait for you people and then talk about it". And that quiet explained it that we were going to spend 1 hour talking about where should we go.

Lets see, we went from roaming around Bangalore to just climbing some unknown hill to spending some time in some far off cafe and also to Tamil Nadu but  finally landed on Mysore about 45 mins later. It was like, do we just want to enter a different state and roam around and come back or do we want to visit a particular place. Two of us had not been to Mysore so we agreed on that.

We were going to cover around 140 kms to reach there and that seemed a bit terrifying as this was our first road trip together as a group that covered 140 kms (one way) but we were all pumped up and as i'm writing this i am not sure about others but this was definitely my first time covering this distance on road.

What was going through my head while locking up the doors

  • I was so excited and thrilled for the adventure we were going to have.
  • I definitely wanted to experience the breeze that was going to make me feel alive.
  • I was a bit scared though, first timer jitters maybe.
  • Lastly, this was something i never thought about, we got to ride along with a few Harley group members just for few minutes but it was worth it.

P.S. your back does hurt a lot and goes numb too.
